Totemic expands at Milan Design Week
WE’re presenting a larger architectural installation, with elements reaching roughly twice the scale of the original works and featuring new cast-glass components
Treating lighting as jewelry for space, Totemic stacks luminous forms into a vertical architectural composition. It is composed of three shade forms—Moon, August and Sage—arranged as vertical elements supported by slender brass armatures finished in 22k gold, moon gold and silver leaf.
Totemic refers to stacked forms of reverence—structures that accumulate meaning as they rise.
Each shade is handmade in the studio’s Los Angeles workshop using hanji, a traditional Korean mulberry paper layered by hand to create textured surfaces with mosaic-like depth and translucency reminiscent of marble. When illuminated, the material diffuses light into a warm glow, allowing the pieces to read simultaneously as luminous objects and architectural elements.
